In the spring of 2016, the field that was used for Rugby at Clemson since 1974 was repurposed by the university for use as a practice field for the soccer team. The University provided no alternative plan for CURFC to have a home field to practice or play home matches. This forced our team to travel to other clubs home fields to play home matches that should be played in Clemson. With no home field, there was even discussion about ending the program.
The CURFC, the Clemson Rugby Foundation and Alumni are working together to provide a state of the art facility for our Tigers in the near future. We are calling this effort the Clemson Field Initiative. This large endeavor will be undertaken in several stages and be funded by donations, grants and this Buy a Brick program.
